Groupofminds is led by founder Ron Evans. Ron is a leading developer and researcher of arts marketing and audience development using technology. His primary area of interest is the exploration of emerging technologies and their impact on patron behavior in expanding arts audiences. He has a history in the field of social interactions using technology, and is known for his work as the user experience and functionality designer behind the Artsopolis.com calendaring software, which has become a national model for collaborative arts marketing. He is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences, including the National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP), the Association for Performing Arts Service Organizations (APASO) and Arts Reach. He is currently studying the uses and best practices of social networking applications such as Facebook and Twitter, and their potential to communicate with cultural audiences.
Matt Campbell

Matthew Campbell has fifteen years of experience in performing arts marketing and development. Currently, he is Director of External Relations for Stanford Lively Arts at Stanford University, overseeing a recently inaugurated department that merges the areas of marketing and development in an effort to unify and expand the organization’s relationships with its patrons.
Before joining the Lively Arts staff in 2008, Mr. Campbell served as Director of Marketing and Communications for SFJAZZ, the sixth largest non-profit performing arts presenter in San Francisco and the largest non-profit jazz institution on the West Coast. Previously he was a marketing and development consultant to some of the Bay Area’s most prominent non-profit arts organizations, including the Kronos Quartet/Kronos Performing Arts Association, Chanticleer, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Brava! For Women in the Arts, and SFJAZZ. He is a resident of Berkeley, California, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of California, graduating with Distinction from the College of Letters and Science. He is also an amateur guitarist and photographer—although his dwindling time spent in these pursuits is increasingly devoted to the entertainment and documentation of his toddler son, Flann.
Maris Smith

Maris Smith is currently an Account Executive at Situation Interactive, the leading interactive firm for live entertainment and the arts. Previous experience was as the Marketing Manager for the New Jersey Theatre Alliance, the statewide service organization for professional not-for-profit theaters in New Jersey. While with the Theatre Alliance, she implemented many new marketing programs and initiatives, including Theatre ROCKS!, an audience development program to introduce young professionals to the theater experience. She also was the first to introduce the Theatre Alliance and their members to the use of social networking applications such as myspace and Facebook and has traveled throughout the tri-state area teaching best practices. She currently resides in New York City, where she consults with arts organizations on utilizing technology to their marketing advantages.
