David Tang is the founding director of the semi-professional choir, VOX, as well as the Firebird Arts Alliance, a non-profit arts organization committed to building community by fostering artistic collaborations throughout the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region. Before his current associations, David led Carolina Voices, the largest choral organization in the Carolinas, the symphony chorus of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra – the Oratorio Singers of Charlotte, the Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia, the orchestra program at West Virginia University, and both the Davidson College Symphony Orchestra and Chorale. He served as Associate Conductor of the Charlotte Symphony from 1998-2003, and has conducted the Charleston (S.C.), Windsor (Ontario), Quad City (Iowa) and Wheeling (W.Va.) Symphony Orchestras, members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Philadelphia Singers and Tanglewood Festival Chorus. He has led opera performances for Central Piedmont Community College and the University of Michigan, as well as ballet performances for North Carolina Dance and the Charleston Ballet Theatres. He has been seen on public television conducting the U.S. premiere of British tenor, Russell Watson, and as a host on New South Crossings, a collaborative TV series produced by Firebird and WTVI, for which Mr. Tang won both a Telly and Emmy Award.
