Matt Campbell

Director of External Relations
Stanford Lively Arts

Matthew Campbell has fifteen years of experience in performing arts marketing and development. Currently, he is Director of External Relations for Stanford Lively Arts at Stanford University, overseeing a recently inaugurated department that merges the areas of marketing and development in an effort to unify and expand the organization’s relationships with its patrons.

Before joining the Lively Arts staff in 2008, Mr. Campbell served as Director of Marketing and Communications for SFJAZZ, the sixth largest non-profit performing arts presenter in San Francisco and the largest non-profit jazz institution on the West Coast. Previously he was a marketing and development consultant to some of the Bay Area’s most prominent non-profit arts organizations, including the Kronos Quartet/Kronos Performing Arts Association, Chanticleer, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Brava! For Women in the Arts, and SFJAZZ. He is a resident of Berkeley, California, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of California, graduating with Distinction from the College of Letters and Science. He is also an amateur guitarist and photographer—although his dwindling time spent in these pursuits is increasingly devoted to the entertainment and documentation of his toddler son, Flann.
